PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA) Happenings:

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP : Sat. Dec. 6th, 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Do you have a hobby or home business?  Come and sell your products at our popular Holiday Gift shop!  Kids and adults love to shop for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts at our seller tables. If you are interested in reserving a table or know someone who would love to show off their crafts or products, please spread the word.

Hey kids! Do you make some amazing gifts that your friends and family love?  Have you ever thought about giving a small business a try?! This year, Holiday Gift Shop is going to have a new area for gifts made just by kids!  A small fee will get you (and a parent helper) a spot at our “Kid Crafted” table, where you can sell your crafts to the Holiday Gift Shop visitors. Only 10 spots are available for our special kid crafters, so don’t delay.  The first ten students to complete their registration will be allowed this cool opportunity.  E-mail Kelly Nix for details, kelly.nix630@gmail.com  and start building up an inventory!

BOX TOPS:  A big Box Top deadline is approaching!  Our first big submission to Box Tops for Education is at the end of this month.  Take a look around the house and see what you can find!  If you get Box Tops and Labels in by October 30th, your family will be entered in a raffle to win one of two Dairy Queen ice cream cakes! Good luck!

Senate Bill 16 (SB16) is a school funding bill currently in our Illinois House of Representatives. Our school district has found it important enough to issue its own statement of how it would impact us here in AHSD25. A $3.4 million reduction in state funding over 4 years, and then every year thereafter. For more detailed information go to http://ivyhillpta.wordpress.com/ or to the Ivy Hill PTA Facebook Page.

PICTURE RETAKES are scheduled for November 7th.

Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you have great photos of school events we’d like to see them! Our photographers can’t be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have.

I Fives go to:

To all the parent volunteers (almost 50!) who provided 24 classroom presentations throughout EVERYBODY COUNTS Week!  With their help, students in each grade experienced what it feels like to have a disability such as difficulty seeing, hearing, picking up objects, walking or reading.  Most importantly, students learned that in spite of their challenges, kids with disabilities are still just that….kids.  They feel, laugh, have fun, and just like them, they want to fit in.

A big THANK YOU and I-Five to Seth Goldberg and Denny Moore who shared their experiences living with a disability with 5th Grade students after school today.   THANK YOU to Denny and Mardi Moore, owners of Scooter’s Frozen Custard, for providing a yummy custard treat to the students who attended the session.

To Lori Ann Oyen for all her time and hard work coordinating the Reflections Program. And to all of our students who participated in the competition!

To Rich Olejniczak, Amy Hoffman and all the volunteers who helped out at Movie Night.

To Amy Beaton and Lynette Nimmo for organizing the DVD orders and for recording this week’s 4th Grade Show.

The membership committee: Cindy Stefani, Louann Benbow and to all members for helping Ivy Hill achieve the Double Platinum for Membership award from the NW Council of PTAs.

Jessica Palano for her hard work compiling information, printing and distributing our PTA Directory.

Denise Kalka and Cassy Mrowicki for choosing such great Ivy Hill clothes for this year
