PTA Happenings January 29 – February 4, 2021

February is here, a short month we hold dear, with Valentine’s day treats and lots of sweets. If you are looking for ways to get involved, look below…problem solved!

PTA MEETING: Please join us for our next PTA meeting on Wednesday, March 3rd @ 7pm, where you can learn all about PTA and the various committees. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. STRESS FREE FUNDRAISER: The stress-free fundraiser is BACK, now with PAPERLESS and CONTACT-FREE payment options! The PTA is working hard to deliver fun events and activities for the kids this year, while adhering to social distancing and safety guidelines. When the pandemic days are over, we will plan many more fun activities for the kids, so fundraising now is important! We can’t do it without your help! Please consider making a donation – any amount is appreciated. This link provides the option to pay via credit/debit card or echeck. If you prefer to pay via cash or physical check, please send payment to the school office in an envelope marked “Stress Free”. Please contact Kari Rosczyk (kari.rosczyk@gmail.com) with questions.

SWEET T’S BAKERY: Are you looking for a sweet way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year?   The PTA has teamed up with Sweet T’s bakery during the month of February!   We are selling DIY kits (do it yourself kits) for kids to decorate and then enjoy in honor of Valentine’s Day!   Kits cost $25, and include your choice of either 6 cookies or 6 cupcakes, frosting, sprinkles, and Valentine’s Day decorations.  Sweet T’s is NOT a nut free/ allergen free facility. The treats are made with the following ingredients:
flour, sugar, eggs, oil, butter, salt, shortening, milk powder, vanilla flavor.

All orders must be done via-email:  Jenjen5757@aol.com.   Please indicate your child’s name, classroom teacher, and the number of kits you would like to purchase.  Payments must be submitted to Ivy Hill’s front office with checks made out to Ivy Hill PTA.  All orders and payments must be made before February 4th.    All orders will be available for pick-up in the Ivy Hill Commons on February 11th, 10:00-4:00.  If you cannot pick up during this time, please let Jen Sadowski know, and she can plan a porch delivery on February 12th. 

VALENTINE’S DAY PARTIES: Valentine’s Day parties will be virtual on Monday, Feb. 15th.  Room parents will be sending out classroom specific info.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: We are in need of someone to head the PTA Membership committee next year.  Please consider taking this role on!  If interested, please contact Jennifer Sadowski, jenjen5757@aol.com

EXECUTIVE BOARD OPEN POSITIONS: We have a few open positions for the 2021/2022 school year:  both Co-Presidents, Secretary, 2nd VP, and 3rd VP. PTA NOMINATING COMMITTEE:  We only need three more (3) volunteers to join the Nominating Committee to help select next year’s Executive Board.   The time commitment is very small, and all responsibilities can be done via-zoom or email.

I-FIVES: Thank you to Kim Eckert for helping organize all the classroom virtual Valentine’s Day parties.  Also thank-you to Tammi Grippo for keeping everyone informed and updated with her ever-changing Ivy Hill sign. Finally, thank you to ALL parents who helped brush off the snow of the staff cars! What a community!

One third of winter has come and gone, and it has been such a sight, to see the kids play outside, morning, noon, and night. We hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying family time, please also pay attention to this cute little rhyme. PTA members are creative and fun, our fundraising time has just begun. Monthly activities are great to see, please read below, we know you’ll agree.

THROWN ELEMENTS: The last of All Thrown Elements pieces have been delivered, to either school or your front porch.  If you have not received your items, please contact Jennifer Sadowski, jenjen5757@aol.com.  If you would like the PTA to bring your completed, painted pieces back to the studio to be fired, please bring them back to the school office no later then Tuesday, January 26th.  Please place them in a bag that is labeled with your child’s name and classroom teacher.  If you would like someone to pick up your painted items from your porch, please email Jen Sadowski,  jenjen5757@aol.com, to let her know when your pieces are ready.

I-FIVES: Thank you to Sheila Crowley and Kim Mullens for all their help in distributing Thrown Elements pieces.   Thank you to Jen Sadowski for inspiring the Thrown Elements fundraiser and making sure it actually happened! And thank you also to all who participated in this fundraiser! Last but certainly not least thank you to everyone who participated in the holiday lights recycle drive!  We collected more than four large garbage bags of holiday lights!

THROWN ELEMENTS: The PTA has partnered up with local businesses to help bring fun to kids during these unusual times.   If your child likes to paint and do crafts, January is the month for them!  Our PTA is working with Thrown Elements pottery studio this month.   Please visit their website, thrownelementspottery.com, and click on the tab Community Fundraiser, then click on the Ivy Hill icon to view selected pieces and place your order.   Orders need to be in by January 16th. RECYCLE HOLIDAY LIGHTS: Next week, January 11th-15th, is the last week to recycle holiday lights.  Please bring in any old and broken holiday lights.  We will have collection boxes outside the front entrance of Ivy Hill and/or in the Commons area.

I-FIVES:   A Big thank you  to the Pandemic Relief committee! During December, Sara Mungavan delivered cake pops and candy for the teachers and staff, and Stephanie Rapone generously donated a month’s worth of meal planning services for all the Ivy Hill teachers. We are proud to show our PTA appreciation to Ivy Hill teachers and staff!
