PTA HAPPENINGS– September 27 – October 3, 2019

3rd-5th GRADE IVY MOVIE NIGHT: Students have elected to watch Ralph Breaks the Internet on Friday, October 18th.  Permission slips will be going home soon and are due back by October 11th.  Doors open at 6:15pm and movie starts at 6:30pm.

DIRECTORY SPOT: One of the many benefits of joining the PTA is access to Directory Spot.     • No more clipping!  No more sending Box Top$ to school.  All you need is your phone.

    • Register & select Ivy Hill Elementary.
    • Shop as you normally would, then scan your store receipts (within 14 days) to find participating products.
    • The App will automatically credit our school’s Box Tops earnings online.   
    • You may submit any remaining clipped Box Tops you may have throughout this school year, as they are being phased out of production.

    • Register & select Ivy Hill Elementary 
    • Select the grade level you want to support (there will be grade-level competitions starting in October.)

REFLECTIONS COMMITTEE: Does your child enjoy art, music, and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films, and taking photos? Then they should join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Look Within”, calls for their own unique interpretation through the arts. Additional information regarding submission guidelines will follow in the coming weeks. Projects will be due Monday, October 28. For inspiration, visit the Reflections virtual art gallery and learn more about prizes and scholarships at PTA.org/Reflections/Awards.

PTA MEMBERSHIP: It is not too late to join the Ivy Hill PTA. Membership ($12) includes a membership card and 2 log-ons to the online school calendar and directory.  The PTA supports and organizes many different activities throughout the school year, including Movie Night, Fun Fair, Field Day, Chess Club, and many, many more. Does your child enjoy art, music, and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films, and taking photos? Then they should join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Show Your Voice!”, calls for their own unique interpretation through the arts. Below you can find the rules for each Reflections category. An entry form needs to be submitted with each project. Projects will be due Tuesday, November 1.. BRUSCHETTA GARDEN TASTING: It’s Bruschetta tasting time!  As you may recall, your children helped plant a Bruschetta garden in the spring.  Now that it’s harvest time, your children will have the opportunity to sample some of the lovely vegetables they planted such as tomatoes, onions and basil in a Bruschetta we will be serving with some sort of chips or bread during lunch on Thursday, September 26.

I-FIVES GO TO: Fundraising Committee (Kari Rosczyk and Katie Hacias) for organizing our first Fun Fun and to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped. A special thank you to all of our Ivy families for helping to raise money for our school and for coming to cheer on our students!

FUN RUN: The Fun Run is off to a great start and the students are super excited for the event on Thursday, September 12. If you haven’t already, please register your students at www.FunRun.com.  Parents and family members are welcome to come cheer their students on even if you aren’t an official volunteer!  The run schedule is:

  • 9:10 – 10:10 AM: Morning Kinder & 4th Grade
  • 10:10 – 11:10 AM: 3rd and 1st Grade
  • 11:10 AM – 12:10 PM: 2nd and 5th Grade
  • 1:15 – 2:15 PM: Afternoon Kinder & Kinder Extended Day
