IVY HILL PLANTING DAY SIGN UP!: Hello helpful parents! It’s almost time for Planting Day at Ivy Hill again! We’re going to need a bunch of planting helpers! We will be heading out to the garden plots on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12 during the school day. Use the link here to sign up! Thank you and happy planting!!!

HAPPY ARBOR DAY!: We are looking for families who would like a free baby tree (or 2) to plant in their yards! The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District’s Restore the Canopy Program is offering free oak saplings! We would need to order 50 or more to have them delivered for free. If you are interested, please sign up and say how many saplings your family would like. If we get 50 or more, we will place an order and let you know when to expect your sapling! The Environmental Awareness Committee would like to thank the Ivy Hill community for a very successful Earth Week recycling drive. YOU make a difference!

Countless plastic bags and multiple bins of electronics were recycled. We collected well over 100 shoes for the “Reuse-A-Shoe” program and almost 800 books for Bernie’s Book bank to distribute to deserving children in the Chicagoland area. Thank you to everyone who contributed and saved these items from our landfills!

The committee will pick up the signs once a week, and then they will have a pick up date at Ivy for the signs. Deadline to order April 17th. SCHOLARSHIP READERS NEEDED: Each year the Arlington Heights Council of PTAs awards nine $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors in the area. We are in need of two volunteers to help read through the scholarship applications to help determine who will be the recipients of those scholarships. No experience is necessary. The role would require reviewing approximately 50 scholarship applications. Please contact Katie Taranda, ktaranda@gmail.com, if you are interested.
