PTA Happenings October 28th, 2022 – November 3rd, 2022

HALLOWEEN PARADE & PARTIES: The Halloween Parade will take place Monday, 10/31 at 1:45pm, with classroom parties immediately following. The AM Kindergarten Parade is at 11:45am. If you are a Room Representative attending the classroom parties please make sure you stop by the office by 10/28 to have your ID scanned so a visitor’s badge can be made for you.

REFLECTIONS PROJECTS DUE: Reflection projects are due Tuesday, November 1 to the front office. Late projects will not be accepted. Rules and other information found HERE. For any additional questions, please contact Franki Jo Beckwith at frankijobeckwith@gmail.com

PTA MEETING 11/2: The next PTA General Meeting is on Wednesday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m in the Ivy Hill LMC. All parents/caregivers are invited and encouraged to attend. Snacks will be served. Contact our PTA President Katie Taranda (ktaranda@gmail.com) with questions. We look forward to seeing you there! 

COAT, HAT, & MITTEN DRIVE: Clean out your closet for a good cause! Please bring your gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves to Ivy Hill between November 7-11. We will be collecting the items in boxes in the commons area of the school. All donations will benefit POC (Partners for our Communities) which is run in cooperation with NCH Healthcare. POC works with the underserved population in our area.

PACK THE PIGGIES PRIZE!: You’ve been waiting to find out, and it’s here! The prize for this year’s Pack the Piggies fundraiser is a “Color Run” for Principal Kaese and Vice Principal Lempke. They will do a lap around the field outside the school and students will get to throw colored powder at them! Exact date is TBD, but will be shared soon. Let’s hit that $1000 goal!

HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER IS COMING!: News about our Holiday Fundraiser is coming soon, so keep an eye out for it in your inbox as well as additional information on our social media outlets.

PTA MEMBERSHIP: It is not too late to join the Ivy Hill PTA. Membership ($12) includes access to our digital membership platform, MemberHub, and 2 log-ons to the online school calendar and directory. The PTA supports and organizes many different activities throughout the school year, including Movie Night, Fun Fair, Field Day, Chess Club, and many, many more. Thank you to all the students (and staff!) that took part in our Spirit Days for Red Ribbon Week! It was amazing to see so many people get involved and how creative everyone was with the themes!

Thank you to everyone who joined ABC/25 during their membership drive over the past couple of weeks! We should know who the winner of the contest is soon. We’ll also find out if we hit our 25% membership goal for the school and earned an extra $2500 for our school. Stay tuned!

PTA Happenings October 21st, 2022 – October 27th, 2022

LAST RUNNING CLUB: Our last Running Club for the fall is Friday, 10/28. Pick up is at 4:15pm. Thank you to all who have participated this season.

PACK THE PIGGIES IS BACK!: Pack the Piggies starts next week! The Arlington Heights Council of PTA’s (AHC-PTA) funds $10k in scholarships each year for K-8 students and D214 graduating seniors. The AHC-PTA will be holding its second annual “Pack the Piggies” FUN-raiser across the district to raise money for these scholarships. The contest runs 10/24-10/28, five days to pack our piggies and reach our goal! Ivy Hill’s school goal is to raise $1,000! To help reach our goal, you can bring in coins, cash, or checks (made out to the AHC-PTA) to pack our piggies! Last year the students got to silly-string Principal Kaese and Vice Principal Lempke. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for our prize this year, so let’s pack those piggies and reach our goal!

RED RIBBON WEEK IS HERE!: Ivy Hill will be participating in the National Red Ribbon Week campaign for a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness about violence and bullying from October 24 – October 28. We would love to have each student join in the daily themes. Please see the schedule below:

Monday – Wear RED to kick off Red Ribbon Week
Tuesday – Spirit Day (Wear your Ivy Hill Spirit Wear or Green/Blue)
Wednesday – Crazy Hair Day
Thursday – Hat Day
Friday – Super Hero Day

ABC25 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: Join ABC/25 Foundation for a chance to ride to school in a cop car (and more!) during the Membership DRIVE event! Become a member of the ABC/25 Foundation by 10/28, and you could win a ride to school by our very own Arlington Heights Police Department! By joining, you support D25 schools and teachers with funds for innovative, creative, and excellent experiences for your students. Over 50% of the Foundation’s grant money comes from membership dues. Ivy Hill is currently at 12.5%. Once we reach 25% membership (including families and staff), we get an additional $2500 for our school! So check out the flyer below for additional information and join today!

Then they should join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “Show Your Voice!”, calls for their own unique interpretation through the arts. I-FIVES: Thank you to our Running Club Committee Chairs, Jen Underwood and Connie Gonzalez, as well as all of our Running Club volunteers for donating your time and efforts to making Running Club a huge success! It was great to see so many students out there being active and having fun!

A special thank you to our Hospitality Committee Chair, Joelle Vena, from the Ivy Hill Staff for the wonderful conference dinner spread that you coordinated. It was appreciated and enjoyed by all!

RUNNING CLUB DATES: The next Running Club date is Friday, 10/14. Pick up is at 4:15pm. THERE IS NO RUNNING CLUB 10/21. The last Running Club date for the year is 10/28.

I-FIVES: Thank you to our next group of dads and caregivers volunteering for Dads on Recess! The kids are all very excited for the next round of soccer and fun with our newest recess volunteers!

Thank you again to Caroleen Guiwargis, Joelle Vena, and Franki Jo Beckwith for all of the time and effort you put into planning and executing a fantastic Fun Fair! Everyone had a wonderful time, and it could not have happened without your expertise and coordination.

PTA Happenings October 7th, 2022 – October 13th, 2022

RUNNING CLUB IS BACK!: The next Running Club date is Friday, 10/7. If your child is signed up, have them meet in the Commons after school to check in and meet up with their coach. Pick up is at 4:15pm. The remaining meeting dates for the year are: 10/14 & 10/28.

CLASSROOM PARTY DONATIONS: Classroom Party Donations can still be made online through the link here. Your $10 donation to your child’s class goes towards the classroom Halloween Party, Valentine’s Day Party, and Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Cash/Check donations will no longer be collected at school.

DADS ON RECESS: Are you a dad/male caregiver who would like to volunteer some of their time at school? Well then we have an opportunity for you! Join the “Dads on Recess” program, and help bring some extra fun to our students during their lunch recess! Time commitment is approximately an hour and a half, one day a week, every other week. You would help to coordinate different sports/activities for children who are interested in participating at recess. Our first trial with soccer last week was a great success, and we can’t wait to do it again!  If you’re interested in signing up for our next session, click the link here.

I-FIVES: Thank you to Mario Bonasera, Mert Aktan, and Rajesh Anantharaman for organizing and volunteering for our first Dads on Recess event! It was a great success, and the kids had a ton of fun!

A special thank you to our Fun Fair Committee; Caroleen Guiwargis, Joelle Vena, and Franki Jo Beckwith, for all of their hard work and dedication to organizing Fun Fair in such a short amount of time. This is a huge undertaking under normal circumstances, but these ladies also worked on creating a new crowd-friendly format. We truly appreciate everything you have done in making the comeback of Fun Fair such a wonderful event!

We also want to thank the many, many, many volunteers that donated their time and/or items to help make Fun Fair a successful even this year. We know it takes a huge amount of volunteers to pull this event off, and we couldn’t do it without you!
