PTA Happenings May 28, 2021 – June 4, 2021

Two more weeks, and summer is here, I am sure we all will let out a cheer. The end is in sight, only a few things left, read below, don’t be bereft.

STRESS FREE FUNDRAISER: The stress-free fundraiser is BACK, now with PAPERLESS and CONTACT-FREE payment options! The PTA is working hard to deliver fun events and activities for the kids this year, while adhering to social distancing and safety guidelines. When the pandemic days are over, we will plan many more fun activities for the kids, so fundraising now is important! We can’t do it without your help! Please consider making a donation – any amount is appreciated. This link provides the option to pay via credit/debit card or echeck. YEAR END THANKS: As we come to year end, Ivy Hill PTA wants to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who found a way to be extra creative this year.  We also want to thank our 5th grade families who will be leaving our Ivy community and wish them well. We have a special gift for our 5th grade chairs to be delivered next week. Thank you to the Ivy staff and teachers for your hard work, creativity and flexibility this year. We appreciate it all. To the teachers leaving us this year. Thank you for your years at Ivy. You will be greatly missed!  Have a great summer and see you next year.

THE CRAYON INITIATIVE: Please help a Prospect High School Junior with his Eagle Scout Project of collecting used crayons for donation!

I-FIVES: Thank you to Michelle Derechowski and Lisa Nason for organizing Gardening Day for the Ivy students! Also an I-Five to Christy Smith and Nicole Campbell for organizing the school pictures which led to $508 in fundraising!

The teachers and staff were all extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity during Teacher Appreciation week.  They created a kind thank-you card addressed to the PTA to show their gratitude.  Please see attached.

The last week of May is here, it is time to bring good cheer, and be thankful for all Ivy HIll has done, even though we missed things….like the Fun Run. The PTA is winding down, but there is no reason to frown, for next year holds some promise and fun, after we have time in the sun.

IVY HILL’S HELPING HANDS: Ivy’s Helping Hands will take place May 17-May 28th.  Please consider donating to this special fund to help those suffering from the Covid crisis in India.

GARDENING DAY: Let’s get ready to do some gardening!  All Ivy Hill students will get an opportunity to participate in the planting of the Ivy Hill garden plots on Wednesday, May 26th so please dress appropriately.  We will be planting a “Salsa Garden”.   Our hope is that all the children will  get a chance to sample the vegetables they plant in a special “Chips & Salsa tasting” after we harvest the vegetables in the fall.

I-FIVES: Thank you to Dimpy Gulati for volunteering on behalf of the Pandemic Relief Committee and bringing in special cupcakes for the teachers. Also thank you to everyone who helped with teacher appreciation week last week.

The month of May has been busy and fun, not enough time to get things done, the PTA is finishing strong, please look below, it won’t take long.

NEW PTA BOARD: Congratulations to our new Executive Board!   They are a fabulous group of volunteers who will do amazing things during the 2021/2022 school year!   Please welcome Angela Sisi and Katie Taranda as our new Presidents, Dee Baum as our new 1st VP, Megan Cook as our new 2nd VP, Erin Lakomski and Megan Martin as our new 3rd VP’s!  Welcome back also to our wonderful secretary Debbie Johnson and our wonderful treasurer Laura Ackley!!

ONLINE BOOK FAIR: Thank you for supporting Ivy Hill through our Online Book Fair! We know the format was different this year, but your participation helps support our school! We hope to be able to bring back an in-person offering next year. Thank you again!
