PTA HAPPENINGS: Oct. 30th – Nov. 3rd, 2015

IVY HILL SPIRIT WEAR COMMITTEE: Today is the FINAL DAY to order Ivy Hill Spirit Wear!  Check out our online store at AmericanOutfittersLTD.com.  Great designs, colors, and prices!  Orders will be ready for pickup at Parent-Teacher Conferences mid-November—You can order something as a surprise Holiday gift without your child seeing it.  Online orders only.

EVERYBODY COUNTS! COMMITTEE: Everybody Counts! will run the week of November 9th-13th. Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer!  The volunteer informational meeting will take place on Monday, November 2, at 9:00 am in the Commons.  This will give you a chance to meet with other volunteers and to review the materials in advance.  HOWEVER, we could still use some more people!  Each volunteer will work either a complete morning session (9:15-12:15) or afternoon session (1:30-3:30). BOXTOPS/LABELS COMMITTEE: Did you know? 1. We need the full barcode when turning in Labels for Education!  ( We have been receiving some lately without the barcode and we are not able to turn them in for credit).  2. We need you to write your child’s full name and grade on your baggie when turning in Box Tops and Labels for Education (we won’t know who to award for raffles unless you give us your name).   3. That Shoparoo is a new app that Ivy Hill is promoting!   (You can earn raffle tickets for Shoparoo too). 4.  Box Tops, Labels for Education and Shoparoo pays for many indoor and outdoor items for recess!   (Box Tops and Education Labels earnings has been used to purchase mini ipads, playground balls, music DVDS and more).

EVERYBODY COUNTS!: will run the week of November 9th-13th.  Throughout the week, each grade will participate in activities with the help of parent volunteers to learn more about children with different types of disabilities.  We are looking for additional volunteers.  Each volunteer will work either a complete morning session (9:15 – 12:15) or a complete afternoon session (1:30-3:30). LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER (LMC) COMMITTEE: Is still in need of volunteers. You can sign up to work during your child’s time in the LMC. For more information or to volunteer, contact Rekha Muruvinakombe (resrini@yahoo.com)

ABC25 COMMITTEE: We only need 25 more families to join for Ivy Hill to receive a $2500 grant!! ABC25 Foundation is the fund raising partner of Arlington Heights School District 25. They work with all district schools to provide grants that enable the schools to utilize cutting edge teaching tools in the education of our students. We are so close to our goal, please join today ABC25 Membership we do not want our students and teachers miss out on this $2500 grant!
BOX TOPS/LABELS COMMITTEE: Raffles – are you entered? We will be drawing 10 lucky winners to receive their choice of a cute poster. Please remember to turn in your Box Tops no later than Oct. 30th!

A Shoparoo raffle will also be held at the next PTA meeting on Nov. 10th. For every 100 Shoparoo points, a raffle ticket in your name will be automatically entered into the drawing. The more points – the more raffle tickets! The 1st lucky Winner, will receive a Stainless Steel Starbucks Tumbler and a 1 lb. bag of Starbucks Dark Roast coffee. The 2nd Winner will receive a Starbucks Chicago limited edition glass water bottle, 1 lb. bag Starbucks light blend and a 12 pack of Starbucks instant coffee. In addition the 5 Top Shoparoo board leaders will also win a poster. (Attendance is not required to win).

FUNDRAISING: Thank You to everyone who participated in our sweet Century Resources Fall Fundraiser!  Thanks to your efforts, we raised $1,300 for Ivy Hill PTA sponsored events and activities from this fundraiser alone.  Your support is what makes our PTA great!

FUNDRAISING: Thank you so much to the families who have participated in our PTA fall fundraising!  We are very happy to announce that participation in the Stress Free Fundraiser has helped us cover our losses from the cancellation of Market Day this year!   If you haven’t participated in the Stress Free Fundraiser, it is not too late. We are still accepting contributions!  If you lost the sheet, no worries!  Extra flyers are available in the PTA nook just inside the front door at school.  Is it too stressful to try to get another flyer from the school?!?  You can just send in a check or cash through backpack mail without the flyer.  Be sure to write PTA fundraiser, your child’s name, and their teacher on the envelope.  And don’t forget, this year in addition to your monetary donation, we are also asking parents to donate 3 hours of your time as a volunteer for one of our many fantastic PTA activities!  Thank you to everyone for giving 3 and $30!  If you have any questions, contact Suzanne Krause at svkrause@hotmail.com or Emily Morrison at emmorrison@sbcglobal.net.

PTA HAPPENINGS Oct. 9-15, 2015

MOVIE NIGHT: for grades 3-5 is October 16th at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the movie will start promptly at 6:45 PM. Parents should pick their chilren up at 8:45 PM. Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy the movie. Fall Movie Night Permission Slips went home today by backpack mail. REFLECTIONS: Let Your Imagination Fly! There is still time! All Reflections projects are due on Oct. 23rd. Turn all projects into the office to be displayed! PTA MEMBERSHIP – It’s never too late to join!!! We are currently hosting our second membership drive of the school year. Beginning today until Friday, October 16, any new memberships received will be eligible for a drawing to win a front parking space the night of Open House (October 22). You can find a membership form on the school’s website, under “for families”. Click on PTA and then choose PTA forms. Our goal is to reach 100% participation this year!!! Questions? BOX TOPS/LABELS COMMITTEE: October is double sweeps month! We can rake in the entries for Ivy Hill for a chance to win $1,000.00! It’s completely free and all you do is scan in your receipts for purchases you normally make. It only takes a few seconds. It’s quick, easy and did we mention a FREE way to earn money for the school! If you haven’t already downloaded the Shoparoo app, go to Shoparoo.com and sign up using the referral code: Clond536. Be sure to read additional details and frequently asked questions about the Shoparoo program while you are there.

Is Shoparoo safe? YES it is! Shoparoo’s Privacy Policy: All user data provided to brands is aggregated — no personal or contact information will be shared. In fact, Shoparoo participants can choose to remain completely anonymous without even providing their name. In addition, users can always cross out any items or information on receipts such as credit card information, or simply choose to not submit a particular receipt.
