PTA HAPPENINGS – Feb. 23-March 1, 2018

MOVIE NIGHT COMMITTEEIVY HILL MOVIE NIGHT for K-2nd grade is Friday, March 9 at 6:15p.m. The students have voted to watch, “Moana.” Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:15 p.m. Come and join the fun!!! Cost is $5 for a prepaid ticket or $7 at the door. Permission Slips are coming home soon. Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a sleeping bag, pillow and their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy the movie. BOXTOPS COMMITTEE:  Boxtops Raffle!  It’s easy, just clip your Boxtops and place them in an envelope or bag with your child’s name on it.  Submit the Boxtops to your child’s teacher by February 28th to win a fun poster.  Don’t forget to write your child’s full name on the bag.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS COUNCIL OF PTAs:  District 25 PTA Council approved a new committee called “A.C.E. it 25” (All Children Excel). The committee will focus on supporting children with special needs and their families. Goals of the committee are to promote disability awareness, facilitate inclusion at PTA functions and create a parent support network. Each school will have a liaison who would attend PTA meetings and act as a point of contact should questions arise. The liaison would also communicate parent requests or concerns to the school PTA. If you would be interested in being the Ivy Hill liaison for this committee, please contact:  Luanne Eisenhardt @ Lbeisenhardt@yahoo.com.

IVY HILL ROLLER SKATING PARTY:  Mark your calendars and plan to join us!  The Ivy Hill PTA annual ROLLER SKATING PARTY is Thursday, February 22, 6:30 – 8:30, at Orbit Roller Rink. This is always a fun night and is a free family event sponsored by the PTA (skate rental is available for $4.00 or you can bring your own skates).  Please note this is not a drop-off event and only Ivy Hill students and their immediate family may attend. All children must be supervised by an adult.  If you have any questions please contact Luanne Eisenhardt Lbeisenhardt@yahoo.com

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS COUNCIL OF PTAs:  The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs has created THREE different scholarships that provide opportunities for students in elementary school, middle school, and graduating seniors. Below are the links for each of the scholarship applications. Please note, all applications are due on or before February 18, 2018 at 11:59 PM. Questions regarding the application process can be directed to Donna Ekl and Nicole Barbieri at sd25scholarship@gmail.com.

  1. SD25 Achievement Scholarship Application  (Application is for graduating high school seniors)
  2.  SD25 Power of Courage Scholarship Application (Application is for graduating high school seniors)
  3.  SD25 Elementary Summer Scholarship Application (Application is for students in grades K-7 only.)  This scholarship is open to any student who spent 3 years in a District 25 school, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 5.0 scale) who plans on attending a post-secondary school as a full or part time student.  Applications are reviewed anonymously and recipients are selected on the basis of efforts in the classroom, school and community involvement.  If you have any questions, please email Kim Kusiciel (momkusiciel@gmail.com).

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE:  Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites you to submit photos for the yearbook. If you’ve got great photos of school events, please submit them. Our photographers can’t be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. We prefer small group photos and all the kids in the photo need to attend Ivy Hill.  Link:  Yearbook Photos. You will have to register your information and put in our school name.  When entering our school info, a password will be requested.   Password:  iheagles25.  Visit the website or download app.  The Yearbook Staff will review all photos and determine final yearbook content. We cannot guarantee that all submissions can be used in the book.

PTA Happenings – February 2-8, 2018

NOMINATING COMMITTEE:  WE NEED YOUR NOMINATIONS! The nomination process to elect the 2018-2019 IVY HILL PTA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE is underway!  Please seriously consider who you know that might be qualified to serve in the following positions: Co-President (Presides over meetings and is responsible for general direction of PTA), 1st VP (Manage Volunteer Lists and Plan Year End Celebration), 3rd VP (Ways & Means) and Treasurer (Manage Budgets/Finances).  Please nominate your friends, neighbors, or even yourself for these rewarding PTA positions that directly impact and benefit our children at Ivy Hill.  You can nominate candidates by filling out a 2018-2019 Officer Nomination Ballot.  Hard copies are also available in the school office.  Nominations can be placed in the nomination box also located in the school office. BOXTOPS COMMITTEE:  Boxtops Committee would like to congratulate our January Raffle Winners, Ignatius Lipani and Joseph Brown.  Both will receive a wrist band for the Ivy Hill Fun Fair!!  We appreciate your support to Ivy Hill Elementary.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS COUNCIL OF PTAs:  As part of its commitment to lifelong learning, the Arlington Heights Council of PTAs (AHC) offers scholarships for summer programs and camps to current District 25 students in kindergarten through seventh grade who wish to broaden their education, talents and experiences.  Scholarships will be awarded for the full cost of the summer program/camp up to $200.  Scholarships are paid directly to the summer camp/program so the award will not have to be claimed to the IRS as unearned income. No scholarships will be paid to the recipient or a recipient’s parent/guardian.  The amount approved by the AHC Elementary Scholarship Committee will be paid to the summer camp/program that was submitted on application.  Only one application may be submitted per student.  The summer program or camp must start on or after June 1, 2018 and be completed by August 31, 2018. To comply with the Bylaws of PTA, the summer program must be “noncommercial, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan,” a camp with the purpose of religious instruction will be ineligible for a scholarship. Submit your electronic application by Sunday, February 18, 2018, 11:59 p.m. central.
