ABC/25 FOUNDATION Annual Report 2014- 2015
The ABC/25 Foundation is a non-for-profit organization that began in 1991 by a group of caring parents to give A Better Community for District 25, hence the name ABC/25 Foundation. The sole purpose of the Foundation is “To Foster Innovation, Creativity and Excellence for the children of District 25.” Since its inception, ABC/25 has raised more than $1 million, which has funded numerous projects and/or grants for the children and teachers of District 25. The Foundation supports the following grants for our schools:
Membership School Incentive Grant: Once a school achieves 25% membership based on family enrollment
numbers, that school receives $2,500 to be used at the schools discretion. 2014-2015 – ALL 9 schools reached this goal with $22,500 given to our schools.
Teacher Grant Program:
Yankee Candle and the Annual Membership Drive together raise funds for the Karen Wessel Barr Traditional Teacher Grant Program.
2014-2015 – ABC/25 funded 45 grants totaling $24,521 + Shipping.
Large School Grants:
Last Spring the Foundation (along with PTA), organized the third annual Just Move It! Challenge 5K/ 1 mile Run/Walk, raising funds for PTA Council scholarships and ABC/25 All School Large Grant. In November 2014 the ABC/25 board approved allocation of $27,000 that was split equally among all 9 District 25 schools. Giving each school $3,000 to help fund a local school initiative. Ivy Hill used the money to create an Apple “Play” Lab with 5 iPads, 5 Spheros, and 5 Osmos.
Marian Elliott Excellence in Education Grant Program: Thanks to the generosity of Marian Elliott, a dedicated educator in District 25 Schools from 1940 to 1981, ABC/25 Foundation is pleased to honor this devoted teacher as we inspire current District 25 staff to enhance the education of our students for a whole generation. This year 9 Marian Elliot Grants were awarded totaling $22,140.33.
Thanks to the support of our foundation members and community sponsors the ABC/25 Foundation has been able to give back a total of $96,161.33 during the 2014-2015 School Year.
