PTA HAPPENINGS– November 22 – December 5, 2019

ABC/25 MEMBERSHIP: Are you a member of the ABC/25 Foundation? ABC/25 is a non-for-profit organization founded by a group of caring parents to give A Better Community for District 25 by fostering innovation, creativity and excellence in our schools.  Over the past 24 years, the Foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 which directly impact students and teachers!

Each school that meets the goal of 25% of families having memberships will receive a $2500 grant.  Cost of membership is $40 per family.  If you have a student at Ivy Hill and Thomas, both schools will get counted for the family membership. See some past grants in action here! Learn more about the wonderful things ABC/25 is doing in our community at www.abc25.org and become a member here! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Megan Geltner (mgeltner717@gmail.com) or Erin Lakomski (erinlakomski@gmail.com).

RECYCLE HOLIDAY LIGHTS DRIVE: We will be holding a “recycle holiday lights” drive December 9 through December 20.  So please bring in any old & broken holiday lights to the commons area where we will have boxes to recycle these holidayy lights. For questions, contact Michellle Derochowski ( michelledycus@gmail.com ).

SIX FLAGS – READ TO SUCCEED is back!  Think summer, sun and splashing at Great America next summer!  Students need to read 6 hours (homework assignments not included) and keep a log of reading titles and minutes read to earn a FREE Six Flags Great America one day pass for the 2020 summer season (these can also be used to purchase a Season Pass for a discount).   NEW THIS YEAR – parents/guardians will need to register their student(s) for the program on-line using a Teacher Specific Code, which will be sent home soon, if you haven’t received it already.  Then, complete the online eReading log, by Tuesday, January 21st, 2020 (there are no paper forms to send back this year).  Personalized day passes will be issued and set home in May.  Additionally, if students read more than 6 hours they may be eligible for Extra Rewards this year.  Once these are determined by Six Flags, you will be able to see them in the Rewards area of the online site.  You must attend Ivy Hill to be part of our program.  For questions, contact Nikki Wolverton (nicholewolverton@yahoo.com) or Louann Benbow (benbowunit@gmail.com).
