FOOD DRIVE: Ivy Hill PTA is holding a FOOD DRIVE the week of May 20th-24th.  Please donate non-perishable food items like peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned veggies, fruits, meats and fish, cooking oil, crackers, cereal, soup, etc.  Kids should bring items to their classrooms and parents can drop off in the box in front of the office.  Remember that hunger doesn’t take a summer break!!  Let’s stock up the Wheeling Food Pantry stores!!

FIELD DAY: Field Day is coming up on June 7th and we need many volunteers!  Be on the lookout for a sign up genius being emailed soon.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES KITS: It’s time to order your school supplies for next year! Check out this flyer for more information on how to purchase and save time and money on back-to-school shopping. Sale ends June 16!

AHCPTA CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER: Join us at Chipotle at 338 E. Rand Road in Arlington Heights (Northpoint Shopping Center) on Saturday, May 4th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for a fundraiser to support Arlington Heights Council Of PTA Scholarship Fund.

Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Arlington Heights Council Of PTA Scholarship Fund.  AHCPTA Scholarships are gifted annually to D25 students based on available funds. This year ten scholarships are being awarded on May 2nd to deserving college-bound high school seniors who have attended D25 schools.  Also in the past, scholarships for summer programs have been awarded to current D25 students.  AHCPTA is hoping funds will allow summer program scholarships to again be available in 2020.  Consider donating to the 2020 Fund now: https://sd25.revtrak.net/PTA/AH-Council-Of-PTAs/.

EARTH WEEK: We will be celebrating Earth Week 4/23 – 4/26 with the following collections & events:

  • Bernie’s Book Drive 4/23 – 5/3: Bring your new & gently used books (suitable for K-6th grade) for the Ivy Hill book drive.  Collection bins will be located in the Commons area.  All of the books will be donated to Bernie’s Books to increase book ownership among at-risk infants toddlers & school age children throughout Chicagoland.
  • Reuse-A-Shoe Drive 4/23 – 4/26: Bring in your old shoes so they can be reused & recycled instead of ending up in landfills.  All shoes except water boots are accepted.  Please either put each pair of shoes in a recycled plastic bag and wrap them with a rubber band OR tie the shoes together.
  • Bags for Bags Collection: Bring a bag filled with plastic bags & film packaging (over toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) to our recycle bin in the Commons area.
  • Walk to School Day on Friday, 4/26: Join us to promote a physically active lifestyle! There will be six starting points throughout the neighborhood for students to meet with teachers & parents and walk to school.  These six starting points will be: Douglas/Hintz @ 8:30am, Camelot Park @ 8:40am, Windsow/Valley @ 8:45am, Pinetree/Valley @ 8:45am, Ivy/A.H. Rd. @ 8:40am, and Burke/Palatine @ 8:40 a.m.

ABC/25 GET BURBED CHALLENGE: Race day is almost here! Online registration for the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge closes on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 8:00 pm! We are looking forward to this fun event, please join us in support of all District 25 students either by running, walking or volunteering! Don’t miss out! Register now! After 4/10, you can register in person at packet pick up or on race day. Race Day Events –

Counseling, Inc. (Families and Adolescents In Recovery) who will give a Free Parent Presentation on Preteen/Teen Anxiety on Thursday, April 11th at 7:00pm in South Middle School’s Multi-Purpose Room.  Learn about hidden signs of anxiety, coping tips, and treatment options, as well as ask questions from the floor. Presentation will be primarily geared towards parents of 5th-8th graders.  See flyer for details.

IVY HILL’S SILENT AUCTION BASKET: Support ABC/25 and the Get Burbed Challenge by contributing to a Cubs Themed basket as part of the race day silent auction. Each school is creating a themed basket, and funds raised will benefit the foundation as a whole. We want our school to the have the BEST basket and receive the highest bid. This is in lieu of past school ABC/25 fundraisers.  Consider purchasing an item listed in this Sign Up Genius to donate to Ivy Hill’s silent auction basket or combining with another family. Donations will be accepted through April 2. Thank you!

ABC/25 GET BURBED CHALLENGE: Early Registration for the 8th Annual ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge ends Friday, March 22nd! Register now to receive early registration perks including a $5 discount on the entry fee, a guaranteed race t-shirt and the option to have your race packet delivered to your D25 school. Race day is Saturday, April 13th – Register Now!  You can find more information about the race at abc25challenge.com. All proceeds are returned directly to the schools via teacher grants for innovative teaching methods and materials.

Audition now to perform the national anthem at the ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge! D25 students may audition by sending a video recording of themselves performing the national anthem ʺa capellaʺ to abc25challenge@gmail.com. Within your video, please state your name, grade, and school. In your email, please attach a recent photo, that will be used to announce the winner on social media. Entries must be received by 11:59 pm, Sunday, March 31, 2019. The race planning team will review all entries and select a winner who will be notified by Monday, April 8, 2019. 

Not a runner? Nursing an injury? Looking for a different experience on race day? We need volunteers to make race day a success. Many options are available and most are flexible to enable you to volunteer and also participate in a race. Volunteer participation counts toward your school’s participation goal.
