I Fives go to:

To all the parent volunteers (almost 50!) who provided 24 classroom presentations throughout EVERYBODY COUNTS Week!  With their help, students in each grade experienced what it feels like to have a disability such as difficulty seeing, hearing, picking up objects, walking or reading.  Most importantly, students learned that in spite of their challenges, kids with disabilities are still just that….kids.  They feel, laugh, have fun, and just like them, they want to fit in.

A big THANK YOU and I-Five to Seth Goldberg and Denny Moore who shared their experiences living with a disability with 5th Grade students after school today.   THANK YOU to Denny and Mardi Moore, owners of Scooter’s Frozen Custard, for providing a yummy custard treat to the students who attended the session.

To Lori Ann Oyen for all her time and hard work coordinating the Reflections Program. And to all of our students who participated in the competition!

To Rich Olejniczak, Amy Hoffman and all the volunteers who helped out at Movie Night.

To Amy Beaton and Lynette Nimmo for organizing the DVD orders and for recording this week’s 4th Grade Show.

The membership committee: Cindy Stefani, Louann Benbow and to all members for helping Ivy Hill achieve the Double Platinum for Membership award from the NW Council of PTAs.

Jessica Palano for her hard work compiling information, printing and distributing our PTA Directory.

Denise Kalka and Cassy Mrowicki for choosing such great Ivy Hill clothes for this year

Walking School Bus

Walking School Bus – October 8, 2014

Walking school bus 2

Studies show that fewer children are walking and biking to school, and more children are at risk of becoming overweight. Walking School Bus is a national program aimed at increasing safety and physical activity among our school age children. Our Ivy Hill School community participated in Walking School Bus day on Wednesday, October 8. Students met with Ivy Hill staff volunteers at various check points throughout the neighborhood, and ‘picked up’ more passengers for their bus as they walked to school. We were lucky to have great walking weather and a fantastic turnout!
