PTA Happenings October 30 – November 5, 2020

November begins, and the trees are now bare, Halloween is over, candy we share. Look over our Happenings, give us a call, our goal is clear, participation from all!

PTA MEMBERSHIP: It is not too late to join the Ivy Hill PTA. Membership ($12) includes a membership card and 2 log-ons to the online school calendar and directory.  The PTA supports and organizes many different activities throughout the school year. This year will look a little different, but we plan to have fun activities regardless. STRESS FREE FUNDRAISER: The stress-free fundraiser is BACK, now with PAPERLESS and CONTACT-FREE payment options! The PTA is working hard to deliver fun events and activities for the kids this year, while adhering to social distancing and safety guidelines. We can’t do it without your help! Please consider making a donation – any amount is appreciated.
This link provides the option to pay via credit/debit card or echeck. If you prefer to pay via cash or physical check, please send payment to the school office in an envelope marked “Stress Free”.

COAT, MITTEN, AND HAT DRIVE: Please clean out your coat closet and see if you have anything you would like to part with!! The PTA will be sponsoring a Coat, Mitten, and Hat drive from November 9th-November 13th.  In addition, you can also donate grocery store gift cards to help the many people who are in need! Just simply bring your donations to Ivy Hill when you drop off your child to school.   A volunteer will be at the drop off line to collect donations.  Or, if you prefer, please drop off your donations in the bin outside of Ivy Hill anytime between November 9th-13th.   Donations will be collected at the end of each school day.  Thank-you for your help!

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP: We are once again hosting a holiday gift shop, only this year it will be virtual. More info to come!

YEARBOOK PICTURE SUBMISSIONS: Please submit yearbook pictures to Christy Smith (Delilah327@yahoo.com).

I-FIVES: Connie Gonzalez for organizing spirit wear and helping our PTA raise $357.   Thank-you Connie and to everyone who participated and bought Ivy spirit wear. Also I-Fives for to ALL of the room parents who helped make the Halloween parties a HUGE success!

Halloween is nigh, and we cannot tell a lie, we are looking forward to seeing all of the kids outside, costumes on, all the frowns gone. There is a lot of fun for kids this coming week, let’s take a sneak peek!

STAN’S DONUT FOOD TRUCK: SAVE THE DATE FOR DONUTS! On Thursday, October 29th, we are hosting Stan’s Van, the food truck for Stan’s Donuts! It will be in the Ivy Hill parking lot from 5-7pm. We are utilizing Sign Up Genius to help us regulate the crowd and adhere to proper social distancing guidelines. Please sign up here for an arrival time. Also, please click here to RSVP to the Facebook event so we can make sure Stan’s brings enough delicious donuts! Available flavors are: Apple Cider, Apple Fritter, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Dipped, Cinnamon Sugar, Glazed Old Fashioned Vanilla, Lemon Pistachio Old Fashioned, Red Velvet, Salted Caramel Old Fashioned, Traditional Glazed, Vanilla Sprinkled Glazed, Glutenless Blueberry, Glutenless Chocolate, Glutenless Pistachio, and Vegan Cinnamon Sugar. RED RIBBON WEEK: We will be hosting our Red Ribbon Week from October 26 – October 30. The Red Ribbon campaign was established to raise awareness about alcohol, tobacco, drugs, violence and bullying. We would love to have each student participate in the daily activities. Please see the schedule below:

  • Monday – Wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week
  • Tuesday – Pajama Day
  • Wednesday – Crazy Hair Day
  • Thursday – Favorite Sports Team
  • Friday – School Spirit Day

STRESS FREE FUNDRAISER:  We’re bringing back the stress-free fundraiser!  As we navigate the uncertainty of this school year, we felt that it was important to keep things simple and offer a way for families to contribute to the PTA without the time commitment that many other fundraising options require.  The PTA is still working hard to deliver fun events and activities for the kids this year, while adhering to social distancing and safety guidelines.  Making a donation to the stress-free fundraiser is a quick and easy way for anyone to contribute!  Specific information about how to make a donation will be available next week.
