PTA Happenings – April 28-May 4, 2017

SCHOOL SUPPLIES COMMITTEE:  School Supply Kits will be on sale soon!  Ivy Hill PTA offers our families the ability to purchase pre-packaged and approved school supply kits for the new school year through our vendor, EPI.  The sale begins May 1 and runs through June 25th.  Orders are accepted online ONLY.  Paper forms explaining the sale will be coming home through backpack mail soon.  To order:  Go to www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks.  Enter the school ID:  IVY003.  Follow the directions on the website to complete your order.  All kits will be delivered to school and can be picked up during the Teacher Meet and Greet/Ice Cream Social prior to the first day of school.  Questions?  Please contact Julie Ratzki at 224 805-6007 or Connie Gonzalez at 847 420-4564.  This is not a fundraiser, just a service provided through the PTA.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE:  Congratulations to the students selected to receive the Arlington Heights Council of PTAs Scholarship Award.  Please see the attached for a complete list of our scholarship recipients.  Great job!  Scholarship recipients 2017.

BOXTOPS/SHOPAROO COMMITTEE:  Do you want a chance to win the April raffle?  It’s easy!  Cut out Boxtops from participating brands (http://www.boxtops4education.com), drop them in an envelope labeled with your child’s name/teacher and have your child bring it into school.  A lucky winner will receive an Orbit Skate Center Prize Pack!  Also, don’t forget to submit your receipts to the Shoparoo App and you will have a chance to win an Oberweis gift certificate.  Good Luck!
I-FIVES go to:  Running Club, Tammi Grippo, Claudia Kowalski, and Laura Vavalle for coordinating all of the running club sessions.

BOOK FAIR COMMITTEE:   Missed Book Fair? No worries!  You can still order books on-line through Sunday, April 24th.  Simply go to http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/ivyhill.   Thanks so much to all the volunteers who helped with Book Fair and all of the families who where able to attend.

JUST MOVE IT! CHALLENGE:  The Just Move it! Challenge 5k and 1 Mile run/walk fundraiser will be held on April 22nd at South Middle School.  The planning team is currently looking for local businesses, organizations, and individuals to sponsor the event.  For suggestions or more information on being a sponsor, contact jmichallenge@gmail.com.  Early registration for the JMI Challenge is now open to all walkers and runners!  Please click here to register.  In order to guarantee that you receive a t-shirt for the race, you must register before April 7, 2017.  If anyone would like to volunteer to help with the race, please sign up here.

PTA Happenings – April 7-13, 2017

NOMINATING COMMITTEE:   YOUR VOTES ARE NEEDED AT THE NEXT PTA MEETING!  The nominations for the PTA Executive Committee for next year are:

We will be voting on the slate at the April 11 meeting.  Nominations from the floor will be accepted, as well.  Please plan to attend this meeting – your votes are needed!

BOOK FAIR is NEXT WEEK — Wednesday, April 12th from 3:30pm-8:00pm.  The Ivy Hill PTA is once again partnering with Scholastic Books to bring you this year’s BOOK FAIR fundraiser!  Scholastic brings a wide variety of books, many at discounted prices.  Please join us and stock up on some new books to keep the kids reading as the school year comes to a close and summer is just around the corner!  Students will have an opportunity to preview the books during class, on Tuesday, April 11th.  We need volunteers for both the preview day and the Book Fair.  Here’s a link to sign-up to volunteer: Sign-up Genius Book Fair Link.  If you have questions regarding volunteer opportunities or general questions about book fair, please contact Judy Newman at judy.ivyhillmom@gmail.com or  Lynn Feder at lynnfeder@hotmail.com.

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE:  Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites you to submit photos for the yearbook. If you’ve got great photos of school events, please submit them.  Our photographers can’t be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have.  We prefer small group photos and all the kids in the photo need to attend Ivy Hill.

• If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username: 406033618
• Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload.
• Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information.
