This week we are welcoming fall and look forward to all of the beautiful colors that will soon adorn our trees. It is a time for apple cider and pumpkin spice, and of course school and PTA Happenings.

PTA MEETING: Please join us for our next meeting via zoom on Tuesday, September 29 @ 7pm, where you can learn all about PTA and the various committees. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Contact our PTA Co-Presidents Julie Soderna (julie@soderna.com) and Jennifer Sadowski (jenjen57@aol.com) with questions.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The PTA runs so many wonderful events throughout the year that aren’t possible without parent volunteers. Although this year we will run fewer activities or have to reimagine them we still need your help! If you want to be a committee head, put your name here! Thanks for all of your support.

PTA MEMBERSHIP: It is not too late to join the Ivy Hill PTA. Membership ($12) includes a membership card and 2 log-ons to the online school calendar and directory.  The PTA supports and organizes many different activities throughout the school year. This year will look a little different, but we plan to have fun activities regardless. To join, please click this link.  If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Vanburen (studyfreak2005@yahoo.com).

DIRECTORY SPOT: One of the many benefits of joining the PTA is access to Directory Spot. Keep your kids connected to their classmates and friends! Quickly access contact information for parents, students, staff and PTA members, plus the school calendar, all from your mobile device!  Get the Directory Spot app in the App Store or Google Play today, or visit DirectorySpot.net. All sponsored by your PTA! Questions or edits? Contact Jules Motschall (IvyHillDirectory@gmail.com).

COMMUNITY AND FAMILY INVOLVEMENT: This is a great committee that helps our community and neighborhood though volunteerism and service.  In the past we have done a Hat, Coat, and Mitten Drive and a Food Drive, but let’s get creative and plan for the current community needs due to COVID.  Please consider joining and helping us give back to a community that gives so much! If you are interested, please contact Debbie Johnson (ivyhillptasecretary@gmail.com).

SCHOOL BOARD: Are you interested in running for the school board?  If so, then your paperwork must be submitted by December, elections are in April. Google Suburban Cook County Elections for more info!

REFLECTIONS:  Almost ready to be rolled out with a great topic… “I matter because….”  Kim Eckert, the committee head, will get information to families soon!

ROOM PARENTS:  Although it will look a little different this year, we do need room parents.  Parties will be virtual, and room parents will also be a support to the classroom teachers. Click this SignUp Genius link to sign up!

STRESS FREE FUNDRAISER: More information to follow on our Stress Free Fundraiser.

SPIRIT WEAR:  Coming soon!

I-FIVES: Thank you to Kim Eckert for taking on the role of Head Room Parent this year, and another i-Five to Connie Gonzalez for organizing spirit wear options! You ladies are wonderful!

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING: The next school board meeting is Tuesday, October 15th @ 7:30pm at the Greenbrier Elementary School.
