LUNCHTIME READERS COMMITTEE: Lunchtime Readers coming in January! Lunchtime Readers is a program sponsored by the Ivy Hill PTA. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are invited to participate. Once a week, for six weeks, parent volunteers lead a book discussion group during the half-hour lunch recess. The groups are formed based on the students’ book choices. All reading is done at home. A display of this year’s book choices can be found in the Ivy Hill LMC for your child to preview. Please fill out the attached 3rd, 4th and 5th grade registration forms: 3rd Grade Registration Form ; 4th and 5th Grade Registration Form. See the attached book list: Book List. If you any questions, feel free to contact Praveena Aradhya (email@example.com) or Soumya Subash (firstname.lastname@example.org.
SIX-HOUR READING CLUB COMMITTEE: Six Flags – Read to Succeed is in full swing! Think summer, sun, and splashing at Great America this summer! Students keep reading and logging your hours. Students need to read 6 hours and keep a log of their reading titles, signed by a parent, to earn a FREE Six Flags Great America one-day pass for the 2017 summer season. Homework assignments cannot be included in logged reading time. Personalized passes will be issued in May. You must attend Ivy Hill to participate in the program. Log sheets are due to homeroom teachers by Monday, January 9th. Log sheets may be turned in earlier than the due date. It’s not too late to start. BOXTOPS/SHOPAROO COMMITTEE: We are excited to start our second year with Shoparoo, a fun, free, and truly easy way to earn money for Ivy Hill. Schools nationwide are already earning hundreds, even thousands, every year through Shoparoo. It’s a great opportunity for us to really make a difference! We earned $500 from Shoparoo last year. Please join and start collecting points for Ivy Hill and enter to win in the monthly raffles.
Shoparoo is easy. The free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap pictures of your receipts with the app, and the Shoparoo points are earned. Shop, Snap, Earn! Get started today! Here’s how:
- Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts. Shop anywhere, buy anything!
- Please select one grade to support!
Ask your extended family, friends and coworkers to support our school. In one year, with the help of 40 active supporters, we made close to $500! Imagine what our school could earn if everyone gets on-board with this program! Check out shoparoo.com to learn more about this amazing program to earn money for Ivy Hill.
Don’t forget to scan your Shoparoo receipts and turn in your Box Tops to be entered into the December raffles. The December prize for Box Tops is a Laser Quest certificate for up to four people. The Shoparoo prize will be a Chuck E. Cheese certificate for 1 large pizza, four soft drinks and 30 game tokens. Good Luck!
