PTA Happenings Sept. 4- 10, 2015

PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE FIRST PTA MEETING Tuesday, September 8, 7:00 p.m. in the Ivy Hill commons. All are welcome!  New this year:  Dessert will be provided for all parents and all will be able to enter a drawing to win Ivy Hill spirit wear.  Come and learn about our different committees and what they do. You will also have an opportunity, if you haven’t already, to sign up to help with our many PTA-sponsored events. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  Please click HERE to see how you can volunteer to help with all our 2015-2016 PTA events.  Our committee heads are looking for help with the following: Room Representative, Running Club, Movie Night, Everybody Counts, Chess Club, Vision/Hearing Screening, Holiday Gift Shop, Education Fair, Lunchtime Readers, Fun Fair, Book Club, Field Day, LMC, Garden Club, Musical Productions, and Hospitality. Please sign up today! We appreciate all the help!
COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED: The following committees still have open positions;  ABC 25 Liaisons, Garden Committee, Holiday Gift Shop Committee, Reflections Committee and Yearbook Committee.  For more information about the committees go to Ivyhillpta.org and click on the tab About The PTA. Our PTA fall fundraiser this year is going to be SWEET!  On September 14th we will kick off our two-week fundraiser selling candies, chocolates, cookie dough and more through the company Century Resources.  Place orders with neighbors and friends nearby, or you can order online!  Why not put the school fundraising link on your Facebook page for out of town family and friends to make it easier for them to order online?  Check backpack mail in mid September for the envelope with all of the details!

Bring your Box Tops/Labels collection to school by Friday, Sep 4th to earn double raffle entries for our big Fall deadline. Check out our announcements on the prizes soon…!! For more details about the participating products click  HERE and HERE.
Also from the Box Tops/Labels Committee: Introducing a new way to make more money for our school using your smartphone!! This year we are excited to be partnering with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo!

GARDEN COMMITTEE: It’s time to harvest our Ivy Hill garden and enjoy a tasting of all the wonderful vegetables you planted in the spring with a “salsa tasting!” All students are invited to join us for a sampling of chips & salsa made from your Ivy Hill garden this Friday, September 4th during lunch.  A notice about the “salsa tasting” including the ingredients was sent home in backpack mail.

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE: Don’t forgot to upload your pictures from the Kindergarten Mixer, the Meet & Greet, the Ice Cream Social and the first day of school.

RUNNING CLUB: The Ivy Hill Eagle Running Club is starting next week! This non-competitive club is open to all students. The club’s goals are to encourage a healthy lifestyle and to have fun!  You can find more info HERE and you can print out the permission slip HERE.  A hard copy permission slip will be sent home in backpack mail.
