PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA) Happenings:

Senate Bill 16 (SB16) is a school funding bill currently in our Illinois House of Representatives. Our school district has found it important enough to issue its own statement of how it would impact us here in AHSD25. A $3.4 million reduction in state funding over 4 years, and then every year thereafter. For more detailed information see the post below.

MARKET DAY:  Check out the October Order Guide that will be coming home in backpack mail.  Orders are due in the Market Day basket in the school office by 3:00 on Thursday, October 9th Better yet, order online until 11:00 pm on Monday, October 13th!!  If you do, you can take advantage of Market Day’s ONLINE ONLY DEALS (free Salad Bowl Serving Set when you make two purchases of a $40 order between September & November. Then place a third order of $40 in December.) MOVIE NIGHT for grades 3-5 is October 17th at 6:30 pm.  Doors open at 6:30PM and the movie will start promptly at 6:45 PM.  Parents should pick their child up at 8:45 PM.  Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy the movie.  Fall Movie Night Permission Slips went home today by backpack mail.  Please return your signed permissions slips and money by Wednesday, Oct. 15th.  Questions?  Contact Rich Olejniczak (richole@ameritech.net) or Amy Hoffman (amye_hoffman@wowway.com).

EVERYBODY COUNTS Week is October 20-24.   Throughout the week, students will experience what it is like to live with a disability.  Parent volunteers lead the children through these activities.  We are seeking additional volunteers.  Times with the greatest need are as follows:
K(PM)  Tazioli/Zingg/Stemler – F 10/24, 1:30-3:30
Gr. 1  Tazi/Bedingfield – Th 10/23, 1:30-3:30
Gr. 2  Kathan/Arias/Likes – Tu 10/21, 9:15-11:50
Gr. 2  Galazka/Rosenthal – Tu 10/21, 1:30-3:30
Gr. 3  Kim/Schlickman – W 10/22, 1:30-3:30
Gr. 4  Born/Lee – Th 10/23, 9:15-11:15
Gr. 4  Santos/Caudill – Th 10/23, 1:30-3:30
Gr. 5  Gavigan/Mekky – M 10/20, 1:30-3:30
A script will be provided and there are typically 4-5 volunteers who share each presentation.  Please contact Jennifer Sadowski (jenjen5757@aol.com) to be added to our volunteer list. Thank you!

REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM What does this years Reflections theme mean to you?  The ideas are endless!!  ” The World Would Be A Better Place If…”, can be demonstrated through a variety of artistic mediums.  For information, rules and entry forms please see the Reflections handbook located in our school office, visit http://www.ilpta-d37.org/reflections.html or contact Lori Ann Oyen at jagtoyen@aol.com / 847-255-1195.  All projects are due by Fri. Oct. 24th.  *Please note DO NOT include student’s name on the front of their project, only on the entry form and on the back side of project.
