LUNCHTIME READERS COMMITTEE: Lunchtime Readers coming soon in January! Lunchtime Readers is a program sponsored by the Ivy Hill PTA. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are invited to participate. Once a week, for six weeks, parent volunteers lead a book discussion group during the half-hour lunch recess. The groups are formed based on the students’ book choices. All reading is done at home. A display of this year’s book choices can be found in the Ivy Hill LMC for your child to preview. More information will be coming on-line soon about the book titles. Last year close to 200 students participated in the Lunchtime Readers program! Encourage your child to join in the fun! More details will come in the following week.
SIX-HOUR READING CLUB COMMITTEE: Six Flags – Read to Succeed has started and paper copies have gone home via backpack mail! Think summer, sun, and splashing at Great America this summer! Students need to read 6 hours (homework assignments not included), keep a log of reading titles and minutes read (parent signature required) to earn a FREE Six Flags Great America one-day pass for the 2017 summer season. Personalized passes will be issued in May. You must attend Ivy Hill to participate in the program. Log sheets are due to homeroom teachers by Monday, January 9th. Feel free to turn in earlier than the due date. For more information or questions, contact Patti Krinninger email@example.com or Cindy Stefani firstname.lastname@example.org. Information and forms are available online: “Parent letter/Student Reading Log” and “Parent letter/Student Reading Log-Spanish“.
VIDEO/MUSIC PRODUCTIONS: Our video/music productions committee needs volunteers to run the new lighting equipment, videotape each grade’s musical show, and provide DVDs for parents to purchase, all under the direction of Mrs. Opitz. All equipment is provided. It’s very easy to run the new, state-of-the-art equipment and does not require a huge commitment. If you can work a video camera, you are qualified. If interested, please contact Lynette Nimmo at email@example.com.
