Below is a breakdown of all currently PTA committees at Ivy Hill Elementary School. You will see we have a wide variety of options to fit all types of schedules. Are you a parent with a little extra time on your hands? Join a more recurrent committee! Are you a parent who wants to get involved but doesn’t always have that flexibility in their schedule? Join a one-time event committee! And you can always reach out to anyone on the Board with questions.

PTA truly can’t be successful without the help of each and everyone of our committee members are we are grateful that you dedicate your time and abilities to Ivy Hill!

New Committees??? – Do you have a profession or hobby that you are passionate about? Have you noticed a need the PTA should address? The Executive Committee encourages you to suggest a new event or committee that you are interested in promoting and managing.
ABC25 – This committee acts as a liaison to the ABC25 Foundation, the fundraising partner of District 25. Promotes ABC25 membership at Ivy Hill, attends ABC25 meetings and keeps Ivy Hill community informed of news or fundraising opportunities. This committee assists with the annual race and reading grant as well.
Birthday Books – This committee orders, organizes, and distributes a book to each student for their birthday. This is done quarterly and arranged with the front office.
Book Club – This is a parent-led book discussion club during the winter months. It partners with AHML. This committee selects books and volunteers with reading groups of different grades.
Book Fair is a one-day event with Scholastic books. This committee coordinates the logistics, organizes volunteers, and staff the sale, clean up, and follow-up on earnings.
Chess Club is held during the cold months at recess time. This committee coordinates volunteers to supervise chess playing students and assist. Schedules may vary.
Community and Family Involvement – Volunteers organize and manage service events so that our students can give back to the community. This includes things like the coat drive and the food drive. Committee members decide on the tasks, carry them out, and help to advertise them.
Cultural Arts – This committee organizes assemblies and events on various cultures, visual arts, literature, music, and creative expression.
Dads on Recess – This committee organizes with the principal to schedule recesses for adults to volunteer and interact with students. This schedule varies and the activities are generally sports related and active.
Directory and Membership – This committee updates and manages the membership directory through Memberhub and Directory Spot at the beginning of the school year and as needed.
Environmental Awareness – This committee manages school-wide activities to promote a healthy Earth. This includes recycling events, Earth week, the Walking School Bus, and more.
Fall Outdoor Movie Night – This committee plans, sets up, and executes movie night. Duties vary as committee plans develop but include organizing volunteers and donations.
Fifth Grade Liason(s) – These individuals work with the school to organize 5th grade end of year celebrations and are 5th grade parent PTA representatives.
Field Day – This committee works with Mr. Hengels to plan and organize the event. They secure rental and vendors, if needed, as well as assign volunteer roles/shifts/donations.
Fall Fest – This committee organizes the Fall Fest event at Ivy Hill! Members are responsible for contact with the game vendor, securing concessions, planning and assigning volunteer roles and shifts, publicizing the event, and managing sales and logistics.
Fun Run Fundraiser Committee: This is a NEW committee and event coming to the 2024-2025 school year! Please email ptapresidentivyhill@gmail.com to learn more!
Garden Committee – This committee plans and executes the garden planing in the spring. They help to line up families to water the garden throughout the summer.
Hospitality – Cook, bake, or supply food/drink for staff events including Teachers’ Breakfast and Dinners/Desserts for Teacher Conference days, etc. Provide and set-up snacks for PTA meetings or events.
Juvenile Protection – Promotes health and safety awareness to Ivy Hill students and parents through Fire Safety Week, Red Ribbon Week, Weather Safety Week, and other educational events as they are offered or arise.
Lunchtime Readers (LTR) – This parent-lead book discussion club is held once each week during lunch recess for a six week period in January and February. Committee members select appropriate, high-quality literature and organize reading groups and parent leaders.
Membership – Holds a membership campaign at the start of the school year. Track online registrations and maintain membership data while providing membership information to Illinois PTA and PTA Executive Committee.
Movie Night – The committee selects possible movies and offers a vote to students. They organize parent volunteers, plan snacks, and promote the event. Movie night for grades K-2 is held in March.
Reflections – This committee helps to promote the National PTA Arts Program which includes collecting and submitting student artwork to the next level of competition each fall.
Room Reps – These committee members worth with the front office to coordinate volunteers for classroom parties including Halloween and Valentine’s Day.
Running Club – Committee members lead and supervise children at the club. They track student attendance and parent emails as well as advertise the club.
Safety Patrol – Committee members work with Mr. Hengels to organize 5th graders to help monitor school grounds/intersections at drop off and pick up.
School Board Meeting Rep – This committee or individual attends School Board Meetings and reports back any important news at Ivy Hill PTA Meetings.
School Supplies – Works with the office to collect supply lists to build supply boxes. Works with EPI to attain best pricing and promote the sale.
Spirit Wear – This committee researches vendors as needed and maintains vendor relationships. They work to help advertise the merchandise and purchasing website.
Spring Scholarship Reading – This committee reads and votes on the scholarship applications of graduating high school seniors who attended Ivy Hill.
Thomas Middle School Liaison – Attend Thomas and Ivy Hill PTA meetings to share Thomas information with Ivy families.
Webmaster and Social Media – Keep webpage up to date and post on all social media with updates and advertisements.
Welcoming Committee – Organize and run the table at the August Kindergarten Welcome night as well as the New Student to Ivy Hill Welcome night. Also assists with school supply drop off the day before school starts by ordering and handing out treats.
Winter Parent Trivia Night – Organize and promote an adult trivia night fundraiser in the winter along with the 3rd VPs.
Yearbook – Line up and assist with School Picture Day. Collect and organize photos for yearbook, design it, and share ordering information for the yearbooks.
